Creating Space For Mental Health: Theory Into Practice
More needs to be done to address mental health in our communities. It is not enough to say that mental health awareness is important and move on. Rather, there needs to be a continuous effort to discuss, establish, and support the mental health needs in our community. My senior capstone encourages thinking about mental health in a variety of capacities. Employing a creative narrative format, I discuss how research, theory, and experience that I accumulated in my time as a student at Antioch was then applied to the community research and project development I completed during my time working for Antioch College Counseling Services Department. Mental health is not just an individual struggle. Instead this project frames that community support, acknowledgement, and resources, are vital to addressing societies mental health needs.
