Using Data Analytics to Quantify The Most Effective Social Media Platforms for Science Communications at Antioch College
Through Antioch College's prioritization of sustainable initiatives such as the Farm to Table Program and their LEED Certified buildings, the campus is recognized as a green space by the Yellow-Springs Community. A challenge that small colleges such as Antioch face is a lack of public awareness around its science division and its associated resources, primarily through multi-media avenues. Social networking platforms can be a beneficial tool within higher education for marketing purposes. Through data analytics, the effectiveness of various social media platforms was determined to highlight the best networking site to communicate about Antioch College’s science-related resources. The social networking platforms analyzed were Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok. Demographics and reachability were taken into account for each networking site to ensure transparency of their consumer base, but the data collected showed which social networking platforms produced the most consumer interactions. This project aims to understand how social media could be an effective tool for an institution with phenomenal ENVS/Sustainable resources but with a lack of effective communication tactics. This information could be important for communication tactics at Antioch College in the future for social media campaigns surrounding science-based initiatives.
About the Content Creator
- Uli Sanroman will be receiving his Bachelors of Science in Sustainable Pedagogy, Policy, and Media Strategies. He takes pride in his work within the realms of media, political theory, and environmental science. Although his bachelors is a niche area of study, it is still a degree that will have a large impact in his future career within communications and policy.
He is an animal lover, activist, natural empath, and an individual who connects with people past the superficial level. He uses different ways of communication to ensure that people feel supported and seen, while also teaching/learning along the way.
Uli has had many trials and tribulations during his time at Antioch College, including the need to withdraw from courses and continue his immigration process in Ciudad Juarez, MX. Although these experiences can result in depressive thoughts, diminishment of motivation, and overall sadness - Uli still found ways to make things work while also still spreading love. His experience through the immigration system only made him that much more enthusiastic to succeed. Remember that you will one day hear his name once again.
Uli will be attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn this upcoming Fall 2022 semester. He will be pursuing a M.S in Human Centered Design and Engineering with a Concentration in User Experience Design. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here <3
Keep your eyes and ears open kids, cause I have big plans for the future. Remember this name. Remember this face. Con carino - Ulises Sanroman-Espinosa
Special Thanks
- I would like to thank my mother and sister for all of their support. Although I wished that I could've been there for them more over these last four years, I know that they understand the determination I had to complete my degree from this amazing institution. My mother instilled in me this love of learning that I will forever hold close to my heart. Without her support, I am not sure where I would be. I love you so much! Gracias por todo - Gracias por traerme a este mundo y a este país para aprender y crecer como una persona responsable y creativa. ¡Los amo mucho!
Uli came to Antioch College only after his best friend (Amanda Garcia) encouraged him to apply - thanks to her determination to see him succeed, now Uli will be graduating with honors. Thank you Amanda for everything! Can't wait to see you back in Delaware amor <3
I'd like to give thanks to my Antioch friends Asher, Delaney, Ike, Maya, Austin, Noah, Maria Ramirez, Alexa, Rosie, Lola, Lexi Payton, Cara, and Juniper - Thank you for listening to my crazy ideas about becoming a doctor....or an paleontologist.....or a supreme court justice.....or a mega designer with a house in the hamptons. You guys always knew that I never meant to hurt anyone with my crazy ideas - actually you all understood that I just wanted to spread love and help others, which is why I could never choose. Thank you for guiding me with support and without judgement or critique. If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't have graduated from this institution due to the lack of support from others. I love you all - Can't wait to see how you take over the world in the next two yrs. Forever and always an Antiochian.
